History 111 ---Reflection paper

Six pages of papers in reading is not a joke. It needs to read repeatedly for so many times in order to understand and digests what the author really wants to convey to his/her readers. But what was this paper in reality all about? These papers are all about Jose Rizal our national hero argument, isn’t he really to be called our national hero? Or it can be Bonifacio or Aguinaldo or maybe Mabini? Who is really is to be called? For fifteen years to be in school, I have learned through lectures of my teachers from grade one until now that our national hero is Dr. Jose Rizal. He was given much attention by our governments to integrate his life to our curriculum that could develop us from being nationalism, patriotism, and to appreciate our own culture. And now, there is a reevaluation of his (Rizal) life and works if he deserves to be entitled as our national hero.
The author of this paper has been observant and was critical in his idea. He was also an intelligent and intuitive person. He used claim and quote in his work which is good because it is more credible in the part of the reader for the reason of giving proofs in one was said and giving his own idea out of that certain quote. In my point of view, this reading assignment has two objectives to the reader, first it will be the cause of confusions and can be shaken the faith of a person about our heroes, secondly, it can also be strengthens and heighten one’s conviction in our heroes or be inquisitive enough of the truth. But there is playing in my mind why is it that this important kind of article was publish in 1970 yet we have knew it just this 2008? Did the government read and knew about it?
Upon reading the document, I was somewhat shocked of what I had found out. One of this was that the American colonial officials and chosen Filipinos appointed Rizal to be the national hero of Philippines and not our own people. Yet, I still believe that our national hero is Rizal because I still considered the person behind the decision making, they are calibrated and have been through in different experienced that made them able to appoint. I presume that they are not just ordinary person. They had seen the worth, talent and greatness of Rizal that made them decided not just they cannot find any anti-American quotations wrote by him. About revolution which is founded by Andres Bonifacio, I also agreed with Rizal that the freedom should not undergo with violence that cause death by many Filipinos. As what Rizal did, he used his intelligent and expressed his thoughts, opinions, and point of views that could be benefited by many, through pens and in that Rizal became a threat to the Spaniards and because he was belonged to the class of conservative ilustrado I assume that he has a well-planned actions against Spaniards that he died because of it. In the part of Andres Bonifacio as to be considered as our national hero my point is he used his oily actions led to the use of weapons and strengths. He did not plan so well but his aggressive mind led him.In conclusion, every persona who was involved in the liberation of our country should be given praise and his/her deserve importance. It should not be neglected by everybody because this will help us appreciate the beauty of life that was lost for the benefit of many. It is also good to be open-minded in every possibility.
